MASSAGE
What is Body Massage?
Touch is a very important part of human contact. It helps us feel connected and loved by those around us.
Massage uses touch through rubbing or kneading of parts of the body to aid circulation, relax the muscles.
Massage is one of the oldest, simplest forms of therapy.
The basic goal of massage therapy is to help the body heal itself and to increase health and well-being.
There are many health benefits to receiving massage therapy on a regular basis:
Relieves stress
Encourages relaxation
Improves circulation
Improves posture
Lowers blood pressure
Helps manage pain
Relaxes muscles
Improves flexibility
Improves breathing
Relieves tension headaches
Strengthens immune system
Decreases depression
A good massage is an exhilarating experience.
What You Need to Know About Swedish Massage
During Swedish massage, massage therapists use massage oils to facilitate smooth, gliding strokes over the entire body. Other classic Swedish massage moves include kneading, friction, stretching and (sometimes) tapping. Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits .
Generally during Swedish massage you're nude underneath a towel or sheet. The therapist uncovers only the part of the body he/she is working on, a technique called "draping". You can keep your underwear on during Swedish massage, and many newcomers do.
Feel free to state your preference for pressure during massage. It can range from light to firm. Massage usually includes some deeper work on areas of specific muscle tension. If you want more intensive work and firmer pressure may I subjest a deep tissue massage.
CRYSTAL THERAPY
What is Crystal Therapy?
Various
crystals and minerals are placed on or around a fully clothed person to
induce deep relaxation, release stress and pain, and promote energy
balance within the physical and subtle bodies. The treatment takes
around an hour and crystals may be used singly or in patterns. They are
placed on sites of pain, on acupuncture points or meridians, or on
subtle energy vortexes called chakras.
How does the treatment work?
Why
would the specific placement of crystals have any effect on the
well-being of our bodies? It is said that there is no such thing as a
miracle, just undiscovered laws of physics. Crystals have the ability to
hold and emit energy vibrations. When a crystal is put in a watch the
battery sends a constant charge through the crystal. The crystal absorbs
the charge, and then releases it at such a precise rate it is used to
make the watch keep perfect time. Crystals affect our electro-magnetic
energy fields or subtle bodies which surround and permeate the physical
body. These include the etheric, emotional and mental bodies, which are
collectively called the aura.
Crystals
absorb, focus, direct and diffuse our energy fields to enable a
diseased or out of balance body to find it's natural energetic rhythm
once again. The appropriate crystals can be placed on the seven main
chakras, which look like different coloured spinning wheels of subtle
energy, running up the centre of the torso. These link the subtle energy
fields of our aura with our emotions, glands, organs, physical body
parts and subtle and physical circulatory flows. This is why wearing
certain crystals such as yellow citrine may uplift you, rose quartz may
help to ease heartache, and amethyst may calm a busy mind and help you
to sleep.
Crystal therapy
Crystal therapy is a holistic therapy that works on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. It re-establishes a harmonious energy flow within the body. This balances the body and mind and helps the body heal itself. Crystal treatments are excellent at relieving stress and are very relaxing. They provide an energetic boost to the whole system so are great if you have been feeling run-down.
A Crystal Therapy session usually lasts between 30 minutes and an hour. A full case history of the client is taken on their first visit. This establishes a thorough background of the person and allows an individually tailored session to be developed. The client lays fully clothed on a massage couch for the treatment. The session begins with the therapist tuning into the patient. The therapist holds the clients feet during this 'tuning in' and detects their energies.
The therapist places clear quartz crystals around the client’s body, pointing up the left side and down the right (we receive energies through our left side and give them out through our right). This develops a good flow of energy within the client. The therapist then clears energy blockages in the physical body, chakras (energy centres) and aura (human energy field). Specific crystals are then placed on the body and chakras to bring in positive energy and raise the client’s vibrational frequency. The client may feel heat/cold or tingling sensations during the session. The client’s energies are then grounded so they come out of a deep relaxation state. A foot massage at the end helps to 'ground' the client even further (or hand massage for those with ticklish feet!).
At the end of the session, the therapist discusses the treatment with the client and may recommend further treatments or crystals to use at home. The client will then drink a glass of water and should drink plenty of water following the treatment. Avoiding caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours, as this can unbalance and upset the body's balance - undoing all the good work!!!
Conditions Helped
As crystal treatments work by helping the body to heal itself, treatments can help a wide variety of conditions, e.g. stress, emotional issues, back and muscular pain, colds, reproductive system imbalances, urinary conditions etc.

REIKI
Ancient Healing Art
A safe and gentle method of sending loving energy to yourself or another being
Reiki is the japanese word for universal life force energy and is the name of a healing therapy which maximizes the benfit from ths univeral energy. Reiki was founded in the 1800's in Japan by Mikao Usui, a Buddist who dedicated his life to the study of hands-on healing methods. Reikiis not a relion, as it holds no creed or doctrine. It is not a belief system, therefore,no mental preparation or direction is needed to recieve a treatment, only desire to receive and accept the energy. Having a Reiki treament does not involve massage since Reiki requires no specific setting or preparation it can be utilized in all hospital enviroments, including out patient clinics and all other patient settings.
How does it work?
Reiki practitioners have received both instructions and Reiki "Attunments" which raised and accelerate their energy flow. The practitioner provides a Reiki treatment by the gentle act of assistance. The result is that the health giving life- force energy in the recipient's body becomes amplified and balances.
What are the side effects?
There are no side effects or contra-indications with Reiki; it is a non invasive and safe for all ages from premature babies to the elderly. Reiki can be performed on a patient while they are lying down, sitting or standing. No adjustment in clothing needs to be made, since Reik flows through any barrier, including casts.
What can I expect from a Reiki Treatment?
Having a Reiki Treatment is really quite simple. You will lie on a comfortably padded massage table, fully clothed, for approximately 45 minutes to one hour. Modesty is respected at all times. The Reiki practitioner will place their hands gently on top of your clothing over key positions on your body. Many pople fall asleep during treatment because they feel so relaxed. You are a participant in your health care and are always in control.
Reiki is totally relaxing, helps mums to be to feel focus, excellent through out pregnancy and during labour.
Reiki provides emotional as well as physical support and works not only on the mother, but also on the child. Reiki cannot cause harm and always works to reduce stress and improve health regardless of the condition. Reiki during pregnancy not only offers treatment for the woman's body but also for the development of the foetus. Reiki is believed to be "loving" energy that is shared from the practitioner to the client. That means that a foetus can be receiving loving energy all the while the mother is being treated. There are some fairly common discomforts of pregnancy which can be minimise or even alleviated by Reiki treatments, such as backaches, headaches, stress & anxiety, nausea, etc. The deep relaxation and peacefulness many people experience during and after a Reiki treatment could be of benefit to pregnant women.
AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
You may experience some tiredness, headaches, excessive urination, thirstiness, aching, cold or flu like symtoms, but these can be improved by drinking plenty of water. This is quite normal it is just your bodies way of removing the toxins from your system. Such reactions are temporary and indicate that the therapy is having effect. Its the reflexology working at its best!
